HEALING AND SINGING SERVICE – Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 9:30 am

Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. This incredible verse from James 5:14 is the inspiration for our healing and singing worship service the last Sunday in April. Praying for one another is what the church does.

In an article for Trinity Journal entitled A Biblical Theology of Chronic Illness, medical doctor Jeffrey H. Boyd from Waterbury, Connecticut admits that prayer did not make his wife’s chronic illness go away but it did keep them in touch with the Lord and give them spiritual strength.

Dr. Boyd’s wife, Pat had diabetes, two heart attacks, bypass surgery, two strokes, went on dialysis, went blind, and had both legs amputated above the knee.  Every week they attended a church healing service. The pastor laid hands on them and prayed as the couple cried uncontrollably. Pat was never healed. But Boyd testifies that this weekly intimate prayer gave them enough spiritual strength to endure another week. It was like manna.

Boyd believes the healing prayer had power – not in a miraculous change in medical outcome – but in terms of keeping them in touch with the Lord, who granted spiritually sustenance.   The Boyd’s also experienced community with other Christians who were praying for Pat’s healing.

Do you know someone who needs healing prayer? Invite them to this special service. Good Shepherd will pray and sing over them for healing.
