UMW meets the first Saturday of almost every month in the Rev. Bruce Center at 9:30 am (with the exception of a summer hiatus).  A program, business meeting, refreshments, and lots of fellowship can be found when joining this lively group!

The PURPOSE of United Methodist Women is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

News from UMW

THANK YOU, GENEROUS FRIENDS
Every time we United Women in Faith sponsor a bake sale, we mutter to ourselves, “I hope people will buy this
food.” And you do! You make generous donations without ever asking us what we’re doing with the money.
Well, here are a few of the things you have funded this year as you took home pies or cookies or pumpkin breads. Your generosity made our participation in mission work possible.
• Our ongoing support of the United Methodist Committee on Relief’s (UMCOR) hygiene kits helped us to send 153 hygiene kits to UMCOR. Thank you for supporting this mission.
• We supported our covenant missionary, Julie Wilson, and made an additional gift to the Open Arms Community Center where she serves. We do this to represent our congregation. Thank you again for supporting this mission.
• We supported Good Shepherd’s participation in the shoebox gifts for the Blackfeet United Methodist Parish by paying the postage to mail all the gifts to Browning, Montana.
• We have supported local organizations with financial gifts and gifts in kind—such as cleaning supplies and paper products to The Place, socks for the Springs Rescue Mission, children’s books for the Fountain Valley Pregnancy Center. Thank you for making possible our support of these local service organizations.
• And you have also made it possible for us to assist with events for the children in our own community (such as the Trunk or Treat at Halloween and the Easter egg hunt, and vacation Bible school) Again, thank you for helping us support children.
We may make the commitment and do the work, but it is all made possible through you, our Good Shepherd friends, who buy our baked goods. We couldn’t serve others without your support. THANK YOU!

also known as
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

It’s tough when your name changes because we are such creatures of habit and the old name is imprinted in our brains.

So it is OK if we call ourselves by the new name and the old name at the same time. We’ll get used to our new name in time.
Why did our name change? Primarily, because we hope to weather the storm of life changes, and keep our commitment moving forward. We’ve had other names in the past. How many of you remember Women’s Society of Christian Service? WSCS. There was Wesleyan Service Guild for working women who couldn’t meet for WSCS during the daytime.

For more than 150 years, we’ve had many names. Now we are United Women in Faith.
Under our new name, we look forward to women of other denominations (or no denomination) joining us in a common sisterhood to uplift, support and embolden all women, children, and youth around the world. We’re drawing the circle wide.
