Covenant
Missionary Partnership

Covenant Missionary Partnerships are intentional, ongoing relationships between a church and a United Methodist missionary. Rooted in the biblical concept of covenant, these partnerships provide spiritual and financial support while creating a meaningful connection to God’s work in the world. Through this relationship, congregations not only support mission efforts but also grow in faith by sharing in the missionary’s journey.

Missionaries have long been an important part of the United Methodist tradition. At Good Shepherd, we are grateful to participate in this ministry by supporting and staying connected with those who serve communities in need.

Our Current Covenant Partnership

Missionary Athea Belton, Waveland, Mississippi

Good Shepherd United Methodist Church is honored to partner with Missionary Althea Belton, a Church and Community Worker with the General Board of Global Ministries serving at Gulfside Assembly in Waveland, Mississippi. As Coordinator of Local Missional Engagement, Reverend Belton leads family-centered ministries that bring hope and healing through education, spiritual growth, recreation, and cultural opportunities for underserved communities.

Her work includes building partnerships with nonprofit organizations, churches, and local agencies to strengthen community life and expand access to support. Through programs focused on advocacy, leadership development, and racial healing, Rev. Belton helps create spaces where individuals and families can experience care, connection, and renewed hope.

Our partnership includes prayer, ongoing communication, and financial support that helps sustain her ministry. We are grateful to share in this mission and to witness the impact of her faithful service in the lives of those she serves.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future.
