United Women in Faith
Love in Action Can Change the World
United Women in Faith is a sisterhood within The United Methodist Church dedicated to putting faith, hope, and love into action. Since 1869—when eight women came together to send two missionaries to serve women and girls in India—the organization has remained deeply committed to mission work. Today, that legacy continues through global efforts that support education, healthcare, and opportunities for women, children, and youth around the world.
As part of this mission, our local unit makes an annual pledge that helps fund programs across our district, conference, and globally—extending care, compassion, and connection far beyond our church walls.
Living Our Mission Locally
Serving Our Church, Community, and Beyond
At Good Shepherd, United Women in Faith actively supports a wide range of local and global ministries. Our efforts include assembling and shipping hygiene kits for UMCOR, supporting our congregation’s covenant missionary, and contributing to local memorials and outreach programs.
We also help fund and support Children and Family ministries including, Vacation Bible School, the Easter Egg Hunt, and Trunk or Treat, as well as celebrating new life with gifts for babies in our congregation.
In 2025 alone, our unit contributed over $6,000 to mission work—sharing God’s love with women, children, and families both near and far.
Our gatherings include prayer, devotional time, and thoughtful discussion, often centered around articles from response, the United Women in Faith magazine and readings from their recommended book list. We also welcome guest speakers from local organizations to stay connected to needs within our community.
